Over the past two decades, the field of social-emotional learning (SEL) has rapidly evolved and expanded. According to a 2021 report by Tyton Partners, 95 percent of districts report that SEL is being adopted across all grades.
Not only is SEL a top strategic priority, but it’s also an emerging profession. School communities are recognizing the importance of building human systems that protect time for SEL and make it a priority. Many districts in Vermont are creating full-time central office positions for SEL; others are building entire divisions or offices of social-emotional learning.
In an effort to break down inter-district silos and help collectively advance the field of SEL across our state, the Vermont SEL Leaders PLC hopes to serve as a dedicated monthly space for district- and/or school-based professionals in Vermont who are in roles focused (broadly) on social and emotional learning to:
