Our Mission

Mission

To empower Vermont youth to thrive in school (and beyond) by advancing evidence-based social and emotional learning programs, policies, and practices in all schools and communities across the state.

Vision

We envision a world in which all schools and youth-serving organizations are centers of safe, caring and supportive activity; where all individuals are empathetic, resilient, civically engaged and culturally aware and responsive; where the mental health and well-being of all young people and adults is prioritized; and where students and educators alike are given the space to develop skills to collaboratively solve problems, manage emotions, and form positive relationships with others.

Strategic Priorities [2022-23 Academic Year]

Our goal is to host three webinars during the 2022-23 academic year, starting with a September event focused on the importance of relationships.

Our intent is to both elevate diverse voices of Vermont educators as well as explore partnerships with other organizations (e.g., VT PBIS, VT NEA, PCA Vermont, Vermont Commons, Howard Center, Inner Explorer, etc.) to co-host events.

Our goal is to send a quarterly newsletter to our (growing) membership base. Our intent is to use these newsletters to share information about upcoming events, increase access to high-quality SEL resources, and recruit volunteers.

Our goal is to create an avenue to start fundraising for SEL4VT. Our (long-term) intent is to start a grant program to fund SEL initiatives in Vermont schools on an annual basis.

In September 2022, we launched the Vermont Coalition for School Well-being, a public/private partnership focused on increasing the accessibility of well-being and social-emotional learning resources for schools, educators, and caregivers in the state of Vermont. Learn more by clicking here.
